Adjacency and Giant footprints
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
- Question
- How does adjacency work for a 3x3 or 4x4 Giant?
- Answer
- By shared footprint edge, so a Giant is adjacent to everything along each of its sides.
- 900.41aTwo units are adjacent when their footprints share an edge. Corner contact does not count.
- 900.41bA Large Giant occupies 3x3 and a Huge Giant occupies 4x4, so each side of the Giant can border several 2x2 units at once.
- 900.41cThat makes Giants unusually strong hosts and recipients for adjacency effects: Consecrate, Supercharge, Braced, and Flank all scale with contact area.
- 900.41dIt also makes Brute easy to trip: 5 living allied Tools sharing an edge is achievable on one side of a Huge Giant.
- 900.41eFlank is the exception to "more contact is better" — it counts only left and right neighbors, never above or below.
