When a printed line resolves
Use this to place any printed line into the activation sequence in 300.3.
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
| Printed line | Resolves | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Crush N | Before everything else in the activation | Ordinary Crush is hoisted to the front of the activation lane, as armor setup. |
| Smash N | Before everything else in the activation | A Smash lowers Armor through its tier reduction, so it is hoisted with Crush. |
| Crush Frozen enemies | In printed order | Deliberately not hoisted, so an earlier Freeze can establish its targets. |
| Any ordinary rider — Burn, Freeze, Stun, Blind, buffs, bonus damage | Before the hit, in printed order | Activation lane. Bonus damage joins the base hit. |
| Lucid: … | After the other activation-lane clauses, before the hit | Lucid clauses resolve last in the activation lane. |
| Initiative: … | In printed order on the first activation only | Gated, then repeated immediately if an ally grants repeats. |
| Deal {power} damage | After the activation lane | The base hit carries all accumulated bonus damage as one instance. |
| Maim: N | After the hit | Maim always resolves in the post-damage lane. |
| Cull | After the hit | Cull always resolves in the post-damage lane, so it reads post-hit Vitality. |
| A rider a card marks as post-damage | After the hit, in printed order | Cards can opt any rider into the post-damage lane. |
| Passive: … | When its event fires | Trigger channel, outside the activation lanes. |
| Round start / battle start effects | Before the first activation of the battle | Includes Braced, Markup, and battle-start Roost. |
- 400.7aWithin a lane, clauses resolve in the order they are printed. Armor setup — Crush and Smash — is the only exception.
- 400.7bA card that prints Maim and then Cull applies the Maim first, and the Cull tests against the increased pool. A card that prints them the other way round would test first — no printed card does.
- 400.7cA clause in the post-damage lane still resolves when the hit dealt 0 damage or the target was already dead. Only clauses that explicitly require a hit are skipped.
- 400.7dBonus damage accumulated by activation-lane clauses is added to the base hit, so it is mitigated once, by the same Armor and Shield, as a single instance.
