Crush

This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.

In game

Reduces the target's armor by the listed amount for 2s. It affects damage later in the same activation.

Giant

  1. 800.12aCrush reduces the target's Armor by the listed amount for 2 seconds. Every Crush uses the same 2-second window.
  2. 800.12bCrush is resolved before damage inside the same activation, so the hit that carries it lands against the reduced Armor. See the ruling on Crush and damage in the same activation.
  3. 800.12cThis hoisting applies to Crush aimed at the target, at a scope, or at all enemies, and to Smash aimed at the target or at a scope — a Smash is armor setup too, because its tier reduction takes Armor down with everything else. A Crush restricted to Frozen enemies is deliberately not hoisted, so that an earlier Freeze in the same ability can establish its targets first.
  4. 800.12dA Giant Tool that Crushes or Smashes when an adjacent ally activates is also hoisted, at three levels: armor-setup Tools resolve before other Tools, armor-setup packages before other packages, and armor-setup effects before other effects inside a package.
  5. 800.12eTwo Crushes are normally two independent reductions, each on its own 2-second timer. A Giant Tool is the exception: its Crush is keyed to that one Tool against that one enemy, so the same Tool re-Crushing the same enemy replaces its own reduction and refreshes the window instead of stacking a second one.
  6. 800.12fCrush is a stat reduction, so Relentless blocks it entirely.
  7. 800.12gForge Cores that increase Armor reduction add to the amount before it is applied.
  8. 800.12hCrush can drive Armor negative, which amplifies incoming damage rather than reducing it.
