Cull
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
In game
Only succeeds if the target's Maim exceeds its current vitality; if successful, the target is destroyed after preceding effects resolve. Ignores status immunity and Shield; bypasses death prevention.
Action
- 800.13aCull is a threshold execution, not damage. It succeeds only while the target's Maim points are strictly greater than its current Vitality. Equal values do not qualify.
- 800.13bOn success the target is destroyed outright: Vitality and Shield are set to 0 and it dies. Armor, Shield, damage reduction, and death-prevention effects do not apply.
- 800.13cCull ignores status immunity. Relentless is a status defense and is not consulted.
- 800.13dCull cannot select a dead, Entrapped, Dormant, or untargetable unit, and cannot select an ally.
- 800.13eA boss is a legal Cull target. The threshold is the same, and a boss that fails it is destroyed outright rather than damaged.
- 800.13fAuthored Cull is a post-damage effect, so it reads the Vitality the target has after this activation's damage has fully resolved.
- 800.13gCull does not consume the Maim it checked. A single Maim pool can satisfy several Cull checks in the same activation.
- 800.13hA successful Cull fires the on-enemy-Culled trigger channel, which is how cards chain further Culls, healing, or damage off it.
- 800.13iCull effects may target the primary target, the targets adjacent to it, or a Focus-weighted set filtered to Maimed enemies, depending on the card.
