Feral misfire and Rabid memory

This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.

Question
If Feral makes a unit hit an ally, what does Rabid remember?
Answer
The ally. Rabid records whichever unit was actually attacked.
  1. 900.21aThe Feral roll happens before the target is finalized, so a misfire replaces the cached target for the entire activation — every clause redirects, not just the base hit.
  2. 900.21bRabid's memory is written after the misfire, so it stores the ally. On the next activation that ally is excluded from the candidate pool.
  3. 900.21cMisfire candidates are every targetable unit except the Feral unit itself and allies immune to ally damage, and the pick is Focus-weighted and Rabid-filtered like any other.
  4. 900.21dFeral is capped at 10 stacks, so a fully stacked unit misfires on every activation.
  5. 900.21eRelentless blocks Feral from being applied, so a Relentless unit never misfires.
