Phasebreak
This rule is part of the Comprehensive Rules, where every cross-reference resolves in one page.
In game
At marked vitality thresholds, switch to the next authored loadout without healing. Stagger progress is preserved.
Encounter
- 800.48aAt each authored Vitality threshold the boss switches to the next authored loadout: a new ability, and new Power, Armor, Speed, and Focus.
- 800.48bA phase change never heals the boss and never resets Stagger progress. The boss's charge progress is preserved as a fraction and re-timed against the new phase's Speed, so a phase change never hands the boss a free activation and never wipes a nearly-full charge.
- 800.48cBuffs and debuffs on Focus carry across as a delta from the old base, so a Focus swing that was already on the boss survives the new phase's base Focus.
- 800.48dA phase may also change the boss's encounter tribe, which changes what tribe-gated effects see.
- 800.48eThresholds are one-way. A boss that is healed back above a threshold does not revert.
- 800.48fOne damage instance can cross several thresholds at once. Each crossed phase is applied in order, so a large hit can move a boss through two phases in a single step and only the last one is left standing.
- 800.48gThe new phase's Power is resolved after its ability is installed, so a Fury the incoming phase carries is already counted in the first Power the new phase reads.
